Sitting at the top is a comfortable, and familiar, position for ppc Racing.

The new look Mooresville, N.C.-based outfit has its eyes set on the throne again in 2005, keen to follow its recent success. Just weeks into the season, drivers John Andretti, Michel Jourdain Jr., Kenny Wallace and Terry Cook are accelerating up the point standings at tracks from coast to coast.

Indeed Andretti, competing in NASCAR's Nextel Cup, Jourdain and Wallace (Busch Series), and Cook (Craftsman Truck Series) have some big seats to fill this year where expectations are already sky high. ppc Racing won the 2000 Busch Series championship with former mate Jeff Green and the team has finished second four times.

While the drivers may change from year to year, and the competition continues to toughen, one constant is the Multiquip portable generators powering ppc Racing's pit crew. In 2005, as in years past, the Carson, California-based construction equipment supplier has several GA Series units behind the scenes providing a reliable power source where it's needed most.

Here's a closer look at this year's ppc Racing team:

Andretti, behind the wheel of the Number 14 VB/Aplus Sunoco Ford, is widely regarded as one of the most versatile drivers around with a wealth of teams, circuits, and top 10 finishes to his credit. His bloodlines haven't hurt either - Andretti is the nephew of former Indy car and Formula One legend Mario Andretti.

Saint Louis native Kenny Wallace and his Number 22 Stacker 2 Ford Taurus have cracked the Top 10 in NASCAR's Busch Series. Like Andretti, Wallace hails from a history of racing tradition. His father Russ was a successful short track driver while his two brothers also race competitively. This is Wallace's first season with ppc Racing.

Jourdain is Mexico's first full-time driver in the NASCAR Busch Series. In 1996, Jourdain debuted on the Champ Car World Series (CCWS) at age 19 and in so doing became the circuit's youngest driver. He was the first to see the checkered flag in two CCWS events and he too begins his first campaign with ppc Racing. Jourdain pushes the pedal to the metal in the Number 10 Ford Taurus.

Cook is a five-time winner in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He's looking to make it six in this his second year with ppc Racing. Powering the Number 10 Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International, Cook tallied seven Top 10 finishes in 2004 and boasts a litany of victories throughout his nearly 30-year racing career.

Watch for them all at a track near you.
